You surely remember the first time you saw ChatGPT live in action.
It literally left me speechless back in December 2022.
In mid-2022, I had thought software capable of competently answering my often ironic questions in natural language was a distant future. Suddenly, it became a reality, and the world was in turmoil.
Many office workers realized for the first time that they too could become victims of automation. Until then, it was believed that automation and artificial intelligence would replace manual labor, but now it became clear that AI could also handle creative tasks.
One group particularly threatened by ChatGPT was copywriters. Just feed ChatGPT the right instructions, and it promptly writes thousands of words on essays about any conceivable (and inconceivable) topic in the world.
Of course, doomsayers didn’t miss this development either:
“AI will destroy our jobs,” echoed on Twitter.
But now, more than 8 months after the release of GPT-3, most people are still working their old jobs.
Why is that the case?
