It is not famine, not earthquakes, not microbes, not cancer, but man himself who is man’s greatest danger to man, for the simple reason that there is no adequate protection against psychic epidemics, which are infinitely more devastating than the worst of natural disasters — Carl Jung

We are all aware of the danger posed by biological viruses and computer viruses. What most people don’t realize is that mind viruses exist as well.

In public discourse, they are called ideologies

They are externally installed software that implants itself in people’s brains and reprograms them for their own purposes. Like computer viruses, they are often secretly installed, using art or entertainment, and you can also catch them — like biological viruses — from people you are spending time with.

The spreading of Mind Viruses

But unlike biological viruses, they do not jump from person to person via air droplets or bodily fluids, but by using sound waves and images.

The problem with mind viruses is that — once infected — they subvert critical thinking, which is the immune system of your mind.

Subsequently, when you became a host for an ideology, your brain directs energy towards spreading that ideology.
