During the last week of 2021, I attempted an experiment and tried to work just on things I really care for.

And this paid off:

Instead of working for clients, I was busy recording videos, writing blog posts, designing Notion Templates, learning how to use the Obsidian App, and on the side, I started to digitalize the family tree of my family.

So I can conclude that this week was probably one of the most productive weeks of the year, despite all the Christmas celebrations and New Year Eve’s preparations that were going on.

Suprise: When you work on things you love, your productivity is going to the moon.

In fact, I actually overworked myself, struggled to stop working on some days, and felt like overdosing on Adderall despite just running on black coffee and more than 8 hours of sleep. (That was because I stopped waking up, with an alarm clock, but this is a story for another post).

How can I make 2022 the most productive year of my life?

For my new year, I would like to continue this routine.

Sure, eventually I need to end this experiment and go back to working for my clients in 2022. Nevertheless, I learned the importance of working on things I actually care about.

That’s not to say I don’t like my clients, but when I work for them I often feel like I’m working on other people’s dreams and giving up on my personal dreams and ideas.

The problem of working with clients is that clients don’t scale. Moreover, they are not long-term investments. They bring you money now, but probably not in one year.

In life it is necessary to find a balance: I need to earn money now, to finance my life today.

But if I ever want to get off this hamster wheel, I have to invest my energy into things that will pay off in the future.

There are several ways I can invest: First, I could invest money, and I am already doing this.
