Trading time for money is not a sin (just don’t forget to earn passive income on the side)
Should you trade time for money, or switch from active to passive income instead?
On the internet (especially on money-twitter) trading time for money is often seen as a bad thing. The majority of recommendations you will get revolve around building a product and generating passive income.
But after being self-employed for more than 5 years, I know that generating passive income is actually quite difficult. People who succeed with building a passive income are the exceptions, part of an exclusive royal class, with high entry barriers.
But why is it so hard, to have success with passive income?
People fail with passive income — not because of their skills — but because they don’t have an audience or network when they are starting their journey.
However, selling a product is mostly about these two things: People buy your product either because they like you, or because someone they like recommended your product.
Contrary, selling a service is much easier: A lot of people are eager to invest $1000 or more on a consultant when they expect to generate a higher return of investment.
